Germans are a little bit strange, sometimes.
Look at me and you’ll know what I’m talking about ;-)

As you can read in the newspapers these days, almost everybody is hysteric about the funny Google Streetview Opel Astra cars with the 360 degree camera mount on their roof. Reason for people’s Angst is that they are afraid that someone else might see their frontyard through Streetview (or if their house maybe need some new paint…)

I had an interesting discussion with an IBM software architect last days.
Since the acquisition of Cognos, IBM is bringing up fancy new ideas and methodologies that might help companies to automatically forecast different business numbers and figures. IBM uses really smart algorithms that take the existing numbers and figures to estimate their future development.

I’ve received an email yesterday from IBM that announced that I am part of the 2010 Paper Selection Committee (PSC) for this year’s IBM IOD EMEA Conference in Rome. The mail says: “Dear Mr. Rossbach, we would be delighted to have you as part of our 2010 Committee. Your expertise in the focus areas of the Conference and your knowledge of technical solutions to business problems will be invaluable.”

Since you cannot apply for this role and there is only 2-3 business partner employees from all over Europe in the Paper Selection Committee every year, I’m feeling really honored. The committee will review all award applications from business partners and IBM customers throughout Europe and will nominate one winner for at least five award categories.
Thanks IBM, I’m excited and I’m looking forward for Rome :-)
